Digi-Merle: Sami Edition!

New Features

  1. January 12, 2005: Ethics Paper from CHEM698X. The article is interesting, although a little dry. It was a lot of fun to discuss the case studies in it with my classmates at school. :D And the Henderson Monster is a cool movie!
  2. October 1, 2004: Insert Disc 2 my tribute to Wedge and Biggs from Star Wars: A New Hope :D. I wrote it in 30 seconds 30 seconds after I got Wedge and Biggs mixed up and couldn't figure out which one was dead :( Note: this has spoilers for Final Fantasy VII, so go out and play it if you haven't already.
  3. September 15, 2004: Project X (mild parental advisory). Don't close your eyes, or you'll miss the sequel, due soon : D
  4. June 27, 2004: Sami's Picture Gallery - Here are some drawings which I made in my diary during the last month or so. I even made up a Japanese-style image gallery page with ALT tags too ^__^.
  5. June 8, 2004: Mobile Dreams, Stamped PDF, Stamped PNG (1280 width). I drew this yesterday in my notebook then spent the better part of five hours vectordrawing it in the Microsoft Expression software. Whee~!
  6. June 7, 2004: Sunshine Sami, a preview of the new layout that I'm going to be implementing when I have time to draw it!
  7. May 29, 2004: Scribble In Progress - Here's the sketch I am working on for my new fansite which I am going to post later. Since I always wanted to learn vector-style drawing (and also it uses much less storagespace than high- res bitmaps), what better way then to do it making a new website dedicated to my favorite videogame sidekick ever? The drawing is made with Microsoft Expression 3.3, a really awesome freeware drawing package for Macintosh!
(I am also working on a new story with my TRS-80 Model 100 clone, expect results within three to six months.)
  8. May 29, 2004: I got Nintendo Gamecube last week, and its supersweet. Expect more news on that to be retroactively inserted here soon.
  9. May 22, 2004: Blue Submarine FAQ. I got the DVDs for Blue Submarine No. 6, and I decided to write an FAQ and guide to it like I have seen on some other sites. Blue Submarine is an animation from Bandai.
  10. May 21, 2004: I won a prize today! I recorded some video clips and took some photos of it, but I'm trying to figure out how to make them small enough for the web. I will post them when they are ready and delete this message part.
  11. May 14, 2004: Motif a preview release of a new song is posted here.
  12. May 12, 2004: Last Day Of Class: a photo gallery of me! (1. Turtles are cute. 2. Cute turtles nap. THEREFORE 3. OMG I LOVE TURTLES WAHA!!?)
  13. March 27, 2004: Here's a small video clip of me figuring out a damaged thermometer at Dr. Greer Laboratory. It's from early February, but is still cool to see. The thermometer works by measuring the re sistance of a platinum wire; but you can only see the control box in the clip here. Since then, I have worked hard at fixing it, and have mostly succeeded.
  14. March 26, 2004: Interested in what I am doing at school? Here's a sample of a Laboratory Report on OMP-Cresol Concentrations that I turned in just before the holiday started. If you are studying Beer's Law in you class, you can check out how insane it gets in ninth semester college : ).
  15. March 25, 2004: I had a dream yesterday, and tried to write some of it down. There were three of them, but rather than wait forever until they are all done, here's the first of them for you to read: A Knight Errant. It was written while I was listening to Dragon Warrior 3 'Flight of Destiny' from the Overclocked Remixes database, if you want to copy the full experience wh en you read it. (So far, I have been writing for about 7 hours and got 30% of the work done, so I guess I won't be done by the end of the day.) Anyway, there it is!
  16. March 23, 2004: I drew some more pictures of Fuumin-neo yesterday. I think these two are the best ones: Fuumin-neo looking confused, and Fuumin-neo in a cute sausage-shaped scarf. But, there's l ots to do. Maybe I will write a story today.
  17. March 20, 2004: I also have an online pet now, Fuumin-neo. I drew a picture of him that you can look at in my art gallery, which is on my school account. Or, this copy of my picture of Fuumin-neo is on here: (Fuumin-neo is a Zafara Neopets.)
  18. January, 2004: Here's a Database of Videogames which I owned as of about six months ago. Due to the large turnover in current systems' games (XBOX, PS2, GBA) those lists do not necessarily reflect current holdings.
  19. April, 2002: I also have a story from my sociology class. The class was the Sociology of Deviance by Prof. Baxter. I had a lot of fun. This story is from my personal project, which was to recklessly leave my 2F chem class via a window rather than the door. Fortunately, I wasn't hurt at all. But it makes for fun reading, don't you think? The misspelling at the end was in the paper when I turned it in : ( I can't believe I wrote 'data'->'dtaa'. T__T+ Live and learn, I guess.
May 22, 2004 - I found out that Dr. Baxter suicided three weeks ago. ( ;_; ) I didn't ever get to tell her how much I liked her class, and that I was graduating this year :\ .... so omg everyone please do not die before I get to talk to you again, okay?

Web History

1990-1996: Caltech Page - My father let me post a page, so I started on the web when I was 9 or 10. I kept writing it there until I was 15 or 16.
1996-1998: Tripod Page/Merle Subdivision - Then I moved here, and continued the page. But soon it became evident that I should have more than one page on my website. The evolution to a new format occured
1999-2004: Quickbeam "Vaaleron's World of Onion" - and I created a new look, several in fact. But all of this changed when I transferred to the University of Maryland and found out that they have a webserver page inside each student's email account. 2002-NOW: Grifter Hans was the name of my new web alter ego. This lasted for a couple years, going from 2001 to 2003 or so (it is still going on for now). I eventually diversified, adding a directory of Art that I drew myself. But all good things must end eventually, and the school's network upgrade and my impending graduation is once again preparing me for a move.
2004-NOW: DigiMerle - this is my "current" website. Due to several computer failures, my launch has not proceeded on schedule. Of course, there will be a new style of indents and everything, but I'm not really sure that it is a good idea to go to HTML 4 and lose all the people who just read my sourcecode (of course, still handtyped with a terminal-based editor :) this time it's Pico) raw without using a GUI terminal. This is my new house on the web (a birthday present from one of my friends from school, Arjun Agarwal! Here is a link to his Personal Web Hosting service)! Welcome!
March 24, 2004:
I took another one of those Quizilla quizzes today.
Also, I am taking a vacation from The Ray Of Sunshine, so I will probably not be back until this weekend, since I have that big test coming up on Monday and have to review for it.
Other News: ... hmm... Oh! I might be going to graduate school next year maybe, which will mean that I WILL FINALLY BE AVAILABLE FOR DATES SO SIGN UP WHILE YOU CAN OMG :D
Also on that note, check out my Ninja Dojo page for all the training you need to become a ninja complete with mind control, insane reflexes, and like, REAL ULTIM ATE POWER!!!
May 22, 2004:
Now that I posted the first version of my Blue Submarine No. 6 FAQ, I decided that the website is probably ready for a name-version rather than numbers less than one. So TAHDAA !! The website is now the Sami Edition, named after one of the coolest characters in Advance Wars on GBA! "Let Them Roll!"
Versions before this version were version 0.7, which added Motif and the picture gallery, and version 0.6, which had the video clip of me and the thermometer down through the story I wrote about the knight. Version 5 covered the Fuumin-neo drawings, I th ink. But I'm not sure.

chaos.
